Welcome to Communitique, our clothes-swapping community app! By using our platform, you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions.

User Agreement

Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old to use our app.

User conduct. You agree to use the app legally, responsibly, and to respect other users. You agree to use the platform as yourself. Users are responsible for respectfully communicating with other users and coordinating the exchange of items. Users agree not to offer or request anything illegal. Individual users are fully responsible for their words, actions and gifts, and also for anything they delete.

Each participant is empowered to make their own choices, being mindful that being a member of their community requires communication that doesn’t include personal insults, slurs, or anything that qualifies as hate speech. Every person participating in your local Communitique is a real-life neighbour of yours, deserving of respect and equal rights. Cruelty, harassment and hate speech will not be tolerated on Communitique and constitute grounds for account termination.

Content. Users are responsible for the content they post and must not violate any copyright or intellectual property rights.

Privacy. We respect your privacy and you agree to respect the privacy of other users. How we collect, use and protect your personal information — and the providers (Supabase, Vercel, Resend) we rely on to run the service — is described in our Privacy Policy. By using our service, you agree to receive communications from us related to your account, such as a notification when another member asks for one of your items.

Communitique is not liable or responsible for the behaviour of individual users. Communitique accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage or legal liability that may arise from a member’s participation in Communitique.

Community Guidelines

Communitique offers members the opportunity to give and receive local fashion items for free. Items are to be given and exchanged in the spirit of loving fashion, creating a more sustainable fashion environment, and building local community.

• Item listings. Users agree to only list items they want to give away for free or swap with other users’ posted items, including honest and clear descriptions and images of items. Exchanging money for items is prohibited.
• Swapping or gifting items. Users reserve the right to express interest in a posted item, to choose who they exchange their items with, and to choose when they exchange these items. Users agree to respect the gifting and swapping decisions of other users, and to safely coordinate item exchange, respecting the privacy, boundaries and rights of other users.
• Messaging. Users agree to respond to item requests and messages through Communitique in a timely and respectful manner.
• Community engagement. Users agree to participate in Communitique only within their local community. Communitique members agree to honestly register and exchange within their city of primary residence at the time of use.

Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, users are encouraged to communicate and resolve the issue amicably. If a resolution cannot be reached, users are encouraged to end communications with those involved in the dispute — each Communitique participant is responsible for resolving their own conflicts.

If content is not in violation of Communitique guidelines and/or legal guidelines, users are encouraged to ignore content they are bothered by, keeping in mind that Communitique welcomes all people, regardless of race, ancestry, national origin, economic status, ability/disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religion, philosophy, politics, beliefs or values. Users are encouraged to report accounts responsible for hate speech or hateful or harmful action (from a member’s profile, or by writing to us) so that the platform remains a safe space for everyone.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend a user’s account for violations of these terms and conditions. Grounds for removal include, but are not limited to:

• Disrespect for membership criteria.
• Spam, advertising/marketing, or offering items or services for rent, sale, barter or trade.
• Joining with a fraudulent account, or with the purpose of defrauding others.
• Hate speech, cruelty or threats towards or between members.
• Dishonesty, or obtaining items under false pretences in order to sell them without disclosing that intention.
• Repeated instances of disregard for the rules or principles above.
• Statements or language making it clear you do not intend to build trust or participate in line with Communitique’s mission and rules.

Legal Compliance

Users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using our app. Communitique reserves all rights to Communitique branding, including the Communitique logo, graphics, website and application.

Suspending or ending your access

You can stop using Communitique and delete your account at any time from the app (Account → Delete account). How we handle your data when you do is described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top; if you keep using Communitique after a change, you accept the updated terms.
